DNA Relationship Testing can be used to determine biological relationships between extended family members that are not a direct father/mother and child relationship. DNA Relationship testing is slightly more complex than the standard paternity test and can be used to assess relationships between Siblings, Grandparents and Aunt/Uncles.
DNA Relationship testing is most widely used to deteremine a biological relationship where the alleged parent(s) is not available for testing. For example, where the alleged father is not available for testing, an individual can confirm the paternity directly through a sibling (DNA Sibling Test) or else through the relatives of the alleged father (Grandparentage or Avuncular Test).
The type of testing required will therefore depend on who is available for testing. For example, determination of relationship through the male lineage will require Y-Chromsome Testing whilst for the female lineage we test through the X-SV Mitochondrial DNA test. We recommend that you consult our team for more complex cases.
