Discussing Paternity Fraud- Part II

Posted on | April 20, 2011 | No Comments

The cases of paternity fraud are several; people make all kinds of attempts to get out of having to pay child support or lump fathers who are not the biological fathers with child support payments. Paternity testing has helped solve countless cases of paternity fraud and many father know their paternity rights; however, there have been cases in which attempts to cheat in the test itself have happened.

Paternity Test Fraud

People can submit DNA samples of people who are not required to submit samples or make other desperate attempts to alter the results. Paternity fraud is deception.

Moreover, in some countries paternity testing under such circumstances is heavily hampered by the law because it is not seen to be in the best interests of the children.

In many countries statistics are quite shocking regarding the number of children who are calling their non-biological fathers ‘daddy’ and their fathers who think they actually are the true father of these children.

Fraud is an attempt at getting unfair and undeserved gains- many mothers are doing this. If a paternity test reveals the truth it can exonerate a father from all payments towards the child and mother and moreover, the father could claim compensation. Yes there will be consequences for the child, non biological and perhaps the biological father too who may have to be found.

Paternity fraud is high on the legal agendas of most countries. Remember, it is a serious crime.

Discussing Paternity fraud – Part I

Posted on | March 17, 2011 | No Comments

Paternity fraud is not unusual; it actually becoming a crime is relatively recent but this type of fraud has been going on for centuries. Mothers who choose to name a man as the father of the child they are bearing when they know that that child may not or is not the biological child of the father they are naming. Paternity tests have come a long way in helping to solve this issue but there are still major hurdles in many countries.

This is the domain in which men can feel seriously unprotected and discriminated against by the law. Most men trust the women who tell them ‘I’m carrying your baby’ or ‘the child is yours’. Things are even more complex in longer term relationships or marriages- how can a father who suspects the child may not be his voice this concern to his wife? Asking for a paternity test in such cases would create havoc- it is directly questioning the integrity and fidelity of your spouse or partner.

Paternity DNA testing can establish with certainty whether a putative father is or is not the biological father of a child. However, getting a court ordered paternity test to free yourself of paternal duties you think should belong to another man is not as easy as when the mother gets these court ordered tests to force biological fathers to take on their legal responsibilities such as child support. Paternity fraud can lead to hefty fines and prison sentences. It is indeed very serious.

Y chromosome Testing

Posted on | February 17, 2011 | No Comments

Determining whether individuals have a common male ancestor can be done with a Y chromosome test. DNA testing is highly accurate and reliable and a Y chromosome DNA test will provide you with a Yes or No answer.

Y Chromosome Testing

Y Chromosome tests

A Y chromosome test can be a home DNA test. The Y chromosome undergoes little mutation from one generation to the next. This chromosome is passed exclusively down the male line. Females do not have a Y chromosome. Males have 46 XY chromosome pairs. As stated, the Y chromosome is inherited from the father and the X chromosome is inherited from the mother. A female has 46 XX chromosome pairs. She inherits an X chromosome from her father and an X chromosome from her mother. It is clear that any female wishing to establish whether she has a common paternal line cannot do a Y chromosome test because females do not inherit Y chromosomes.

Because of the low rate of mutation in the Y chromosome, related males from the same paternal line will have almost identical Y-STR profiles. If the males are not related, they will have unique Y-STR profiles.

The Y chromosome encodes all the information relating to maleness and characteristics as pertaining to the male sex.
It is important to bear in mind that a Y chromosome test will tell you that two or males share a common paternal line. The test cannot tell you whether you share the same father, grandfather or which every relationship you seek to establish.

However, if you are 2 males wishing to know you share the same father and the test shows you share the same Y-STR profiles, then you can make your own conclusions which are founded on hard DNA evidence. If they want to determine paternity, the first option is a paternity DNA test. Y chromosome testing is accurate and reliable.

What is Paternity?

Posted on | January 11, 2011 | No Comments

What is paternity? “Paternity” as a term and the issue of paternity is of course, a primary concern of many fathers and mothers. It is indeed a complex term; the term paternity often exists in relationship to another word so that we see for example “a paternity test” or “a paternity suit”. Nowadays, it is not unusual for a father to question whether he is the biological father if a child or for a mother to be unsure of which man fathered her child. Usually this is conclusively solved with a DNA paternity test.

Let’s discuss the question “what is paternity?” and see some definitions

•    The term may simply refer to the state of being a father
•    Fatherhood: the kinship between a father and his children/offspring
•    Paternity is a term used in both the medical and legal fields. In medicine it refers to the biological relationship between an offspring and its father whilst in law, the term paternity involves the acknowledgement of a child as belonging to a man and thus, bringing into play all the rights and duties as imposed by the law onto a father.

DNA Paternity Testing, test de paternitate, is a common and reliable method of confirming the existence of biological relationship between an alleged father and his child. The test can nowadays be done using a home DNA paternity testing kit. The DNA paternity test does not necessitate the mother’s DNA and can be done for either legal or curiosity purposes.

What is paternity?

For this article, we shall answer the question “what is paternity” by saying that paternity is legal fatherhood. If a child does not have a legal father, it is often a major concern to get a father registered for that child so as for the child to be hopefully fully provided for by both parents. It may be that paternity cannot be confirmed at the birth of the child and the father’s name filled on the baby’s birth certificate.

There is timeframe after the birth of a child within which the father can be registered. This leaves enough time to investigate and conclusively solve the issue of “who is the father”. A paternity DNA test can be done as soon as the child is born (it may be also possible to do a pre-natal test for paternity); the moment the child is born, a saliva DNA sample can be taken using an oral swab and sent off for laboratory analysis.

The article has here almost fully answered the question: what is paternity? Now however, we also have other paternity related issues: like paternity leave in much the same way as maternity rights.

DNA Paternity Test: Michael Jackson

Posted on | December 1, 2010 | No Comments

Michael Jackson’s body guard, Matt Fiddes, 31, wants a paternity test; he claims to be the father of the star’s youngest son- Prince Michael II, who is often called Blanket. The body guard is trying to go ahead with a paternity test in order to determine whether he really is the biological father of the boy.

The body guard Matt Fiddes is a martial arts expert. He plans taking a paternity test in the very near future. If the DNA paternity test shows that Fiddes is the biological father of blanket he will go on to try and get custody of the child. As the biological father, he would have a claim to this and the paternity test would be used as the necessary proof of relationship in court. Currently, it is the mother of Michael Jackson, Catherine, who is looking after Michael Jackson’s kids. However, she is now 80 and Fiddes says he would like to take over custody when Catherine can no longer look after the boy.

Fiddes claims that he donated sperm when Michael Jackson asked. This was supposedly because Jackson wanted to have a strong, athletic child and thus, Fiddes seemed the right person.

The paternity test will essentially compare the genetic markers on the DNA profiles of Fiddes and Prince Michael, 8 years of age, to determine whether there is a match between the profiles.

A paternity DNA test is considered to be the most accurate and reliable means of ascertaining paternity. DNA samples can easily be collected using a mouth swab; results are quick and often used in courts in such cases involving child custody, visitation disputes and such related issues.

The results of the case involving Michael Jackson’s son prince: DNA paternity test will be used to determine whether Prince is Fiddes’ child will be made known in the coming future.

DNA Paternity Test result: Some issues

Posted on | October 29, 2010 | No Comments

Your paternity test result is what will determine your choices and for some, it is a life-changing experience.

Your result will show with a probability in excess of 99.99% that the alleged father is the biological father. This probability can vary slightly depending on whether the mother’s samples are included. The mother’s sample help provide a more accurate result. Even without the mother’s sample, a paternity DNA test will still show an inclusion of paternity of no less than 99.9%. If the alleged father is not the biological dad, he will be included with a 0% probability.

What problems might I encounter with my paternity test result?

Let’s begin by specifying that and complications and problems are very seldom- you can thus, breathe a sigh of relief and rest assured that chances are that all will go very smoothly an in a timely manner with your DNA test result. Also know that with a paternity test, there is no problem that can’t be fixed; paternity can always be determined (unless the alleged fathers are identical twins)

Here are some of the problems

The DNA sample fails: this is extremely rare. With saliva sample, sometimes a mouth swab may not provide enough DNA for laboratory analysis. Normally, most DNA testing companies provide 2 swabs per person; just in case one swab fails, they can begin testing the other- this however will require more time. With DNA samples other than saliva sample, you are advised prior to the testing on the rate of success of that sample. If you use a low success rate sample like an envelope or a glass with a lip mark, you should not be too surprised if the sample fails. If it does, fail, you will need to send in another sample. If you have used a high success rate sample, labs should have no problems extracting DNA although there is always a small chance of failure.

Related fathers:  This is an issue with paternity test results; in fact if you suspect the alleged fathers may be related, all the more if they are brothers, you must inform the lab so that they can proceed and advise you accordingly. If fathers are related their DNA profiles will be extremely similar and this can be a problem. To provide conclusive results you can either submit sample of both fathers or include the mother’s DNA sample.

Paternity testing is highly accurate and reliable. You will rarely encounter problems with your paternity test results and these should be of no concern until they arise.

Paternity DNA testing: A Curious Nigeria Case

Posted on | October 7, 2010 | No Comments

Paternity DNA testing is reliable and has been used over and over to solve countless paternity disputes. Paternity tests rely on scientific evidence that is, in the vast majority of cases, incontrovertible. Nwachukwu Ikechukwu is a middle aged Nigerian man who has had an affair with a 15 year-old girl. The girl has born a child which she claims is Ikechukwu’s; however, the man denies that the child is his, although he acknowledges having an affair with the girl and explains his unconventional sexual rapports with her.

The court case was recently at its peak, with the young girl sitting in court, clutching the child and staring at the alleged father of her baby. Sitting in the defendant box, Ikechukwu described his affair with the girl saying that, in 2009, he did make love with her but did not indulge in coition. The young mother’s lawyer, Esther Uzoma, asked him to elaborate on this and explain how he made love without penetrating the girl. Ikechukwu described how he simply made love with his hands and only touched the girl’s chest and tummy. He described that he did experience an erection but his lawyer, Uwem U. Umoanwan, interjected claiming that his client was illiterate and although he could articulate the word he had no idea what it was.

The affair is precisely described as having taken place in July 2009 and the baby was born in February 2010. The plaintiff directly asked Ikechukwu to himself calculate the months between the affair and the birth of the child. The period is 8 months and on this basis, Ikechukwu claims that he cannot be the biological father of the child. Moreover, the 15 year old girl only noticed 6 months prior to the birth that she was pregnant, which in Ikechukwu eyes narrowed the pregnancy-to-birth margin to just over 6 months- this he claimed, made it impossible that he was the father.

The Barrister asked Ikechukwu if he was willing to take a DNA paternity test which would easily prove or disprove the issue of paternity. The defense objected to the paternity test claiming that the Plaintiff had never put forward a request for any paternity tests. Whether the paternity DNA test will go ahead or not has not yet been decided by the court; however, without it, it is difficult to determine what will happen. Will the girl have to raise a child without the biological father taking responsibility?

From a medical perspective the girl may have experienced bleeding in the early stages of her pregnancy which may have led her to think she was not pregnant. However, it is possible for women to bleed during pregnancy for a range of reasons, including what is referred to as decidual bleeding or hormonal changes when the period would have normally occurred. However, such bleeding is nothing to do with menstruation.

Paternity DNA testing will secure the future of the child and the mother. It can become a legal tool that will ultimately make the father take on his parental responsibilities.

The DNA Maternity Test

Posted on | August 23, 2010 | No Comments

A maternity test is a DNA test falling under the broader umbrella “parental testing”. The demand for DNA maternity testing is not as high as the demand for other DNA tests such as the paternity test . We could say in fact, that this test is seldom used as there are very rarely any issues centering on maternity- a mother is sure who her children are.  Of course, there may be instances when this test is used as it will accurately show the DNA profile of the mother and that of her child and the genes the child has inherited from his or her biological mother.

When in a DNA maternity test used?

Maternity testing is most commonly used in immigration DNA tests in New Zealand. Normally, a proof of relationship is required if a child wishes to legally join their mother in a non-native country or vice versa. For example, a mother living in Ethiopia may wish to join her daughter who is legally residing in New Zealand. Maternal DNA tests used for immigration are done following very strict DNA sample collection procedures. Normally, the samples would be collected by a third party and carried out at the nearest embassy.

Adopted children and their biological mother may be reunited thanks to a DNA maternity test and the test has on rare occasions been used to solve hospital mix-ups where a baby was accidentally given to the wrong mother.

How are DNA samples collected for a maternity test?

A maternity DNA test can be carried out with or without the father’s DNA samples; nevertheless, having the father’s samples can help provide a more accurate result and exclude his share in the genetic inheritance of the child thereby leaving the genes that have solely been inherited from the mother for comparison.
Samples for a maternity test are normally collected with a simple oral swab.

Oral swabs can be supplied by most DNA testing companies in a home testing kit. Once you have collected DNA samples with the swabs, you just send them back for laboratory analysis. A swab looks very much like a cotton bud but with a single cotton ended part. Rubbing a swab within the mouth effectively collects cheek cells and these can be used to extract DNA and conclude the test.

For a maternity test with the father’s samples, the probability inclusion for maternity will be 99.99% or higher and the exclusion will be of 100%. Maternity testing can be done for both legal reasons and for peace of mind.
DNA maternity testing is one of the less required DNA tests however, it does find extensive use in cases of immigration.

Paternity test confirms Ronaldo has son from American waitress

Posted on | July 30, 2010 | No Comments

In June 2010, right after Cristiano Ronaldo’s team, Real Madrid, played in the World Cup against the Ivory Coast, the Portuguese player announced the birth of a son. The player did not reveal the name of the mother and claimed he wished to keep her name out of the media. However, recently, claims have arisen that the most expensive player in the entire history of football may have fathered the child with an American waitress from Los Angeles with which he had a one night stand. A paternity test confirmed she was carrying his baby.

Ronaldo has paid the mother of the child an estimated 10 million $ in order for her to allow him full guardianship of the child and says he wishes her to live a good life; he will not reveal the identity of his son’s mother until the boy has reached the age of 18. It is said that his chat up line was a rather dry, unromantic whisper to the Los Angeles waitress which ran as follows : “me, you, ****, ****”.

Paternity Test Cristiano Ronaldo

Paternity Test confirms Ronldo has a son from a one night stand with an American waitress

After Ronaldo left Los Angeles the waitress discovered he had left her pregnant. The football player consented to a paternity DNA test which did conclude that he in fact was the biological father of the child the waitress was carrying.

Originally, when news was out that Ronaldo had a son and the player refused to disclose the identity of the mother, rumours claimed it was in fact a child he had with a surrogate mother. Ronaldo still is unsure regarding the extent to which he should include the mother in child’s life; Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores, has strongly guided him regarding the choices to make. She has pushed for making sure the mother lives an affluent life style so that if ever the boy tries to seek out his biological mother he will find her well-looked after and living well.

Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have been extremely pleased with the result of the paternity test and has taken the child back to Portugal. Paternity testing is extremely accurate, scientific and reliable. Other celebrities who have done this test include LeBron James and Tiger Woods.
